Lens through which you see life!

Updated: Aug 28, 2020

Living life, I feel that it really shouldn't be as complicated as we make it to be. We are born into this life with all the tools we need to survive in this world. Think back to when you were a baby. You cried when you were hungry so that you were fed, you slept when your body needed rest, and you paid attention to everything around you soaking in all the information just as it is. This is before you learnt to form beliefs/opinions and label things. Before this stage you were able to grasp something for exactly what it is and not what you expected or wanted it to be. In other words, living in the moment, being present and mindful was something that came naturally to you. I think that is how life was intended or meant to be lived.

Is that too crazy a thought? Or is there really such a thing as a crazy thought? Did I just label it crazy because it doesn't fit into the ideal mould that we have learnt to view as the norm. Isn't this somewhat mind boggling that it really depends on the lens through which you see life? If you take away all the conditioning layer by layer, you will realise that our expectations of things in life are merely things that are passed down to us through social conditioning.

Any moment you are triggered, please view it as an opportunity to ask yourself and see deeply where this trigger is coming from. Why am I triggered? What emotions do I feel? If you are mad or triggered, it is usually caused by an unfolding of a situation that did not meet or live up to your expectations. Then think of where and when you actually set that standard in your life. The more you dig deep you might realise that it is formed by thoughts that may not have even been yours in the first place! It may be your parents beliefs that are passed on or something you picked up in school.

I urge you to take a second to just observe your thoughts. Don't judge them, don't emote, simply observe. I would let you come to your own understanding as to what happens when you do this. Once you do that, I will have another article for you that focuses mainly on our thoughts.

This is my first post on a blog and I'm simply writing what I see, observe, feel and what I've come to know and that has helped me feel calm, happy and at peace. I hope I am able to share with you the tools that work for me, so at least one of them may resonate with you and get you closer to living your life the most beautiful way possible. :)
