I want to talk today about how our words play a much bigger role in our lives than we realise. The words we use in conversation and our thoughts, are a catalyst for the current reality of our lives. Everything we talk about, we need to remember that our body and mind is listening to us. The more we talk about a problem or may it be something that we are proud of, or an incident that brought us joy, whichever it is, the more of what we are attracting to our lives is what and where we put our focus on. As I’ve mentioned before in the post "Creating a reality you want!", our subconscious mind is a subjective mind. If we think and talk about something for long enough, and start feeling the emotions around it, positive or negative, once the conscious mind accepts this thought to be true, the subconscious mind fully believes it and hence it’ll now become a belief in our subconscious mind.
What manifests in our reality is what is there in our subconscious mind. This is why the words we choose to use in our conversations and thoughts matter. We have learnt since a very young age to associate words with a feeling. It may stem from a past memory or a conditioned belief of how a certain phrase should make us feel in relation to a value that is instilled in us. If we are complaining everyday about a particular task we do regularly, or about the people we work with, or anything in our lives, we can’t be surprised when a few months later, or even a year later we sometimes may have those exact same complaints. It doesn’t even have to be the same people we work with that are still there, there may be newer people over time, or we could have even moved on to a new job, so ultimately it’s not even the same people but we would still have similar complaints. Take a look in your own life where this may be the case.
When we perceive something to be a problem, the more we talk about it feeling angry or frustrated, the more we are teaching our mind and body to make it a belief in our subconsious mind. As our subconscious mind does not perceive something to be good or bad, or right or wrong, it’s simply going to believe what you feed it, bringing you more situations and people that cause you to feel the same anger and frustration while also reaffirming the beliefs you’ve created for yourself. The same is true for the things we talk about with a positive connotation. This is why even hearing a song lyric or just hearing someone say a particular phrase or a word can automatically stir up a certain feeling in us, may you call it being nostalgic, or taking you back to a past memory, it comes down to that the body remembers and it’s learnt to associate different emotions with different words.
Our ego mind always creates a narrative around a situation we are faced with. It brings in assumptions by looking at the memories of the past and by trying to predict possible futures in our mind. This is all because it does not like uncertainty and the unknown as it’s unfamiliar and scary. As it cannot control the external physical situations; for example how the weather is today, it tries to create an illusion of control within by having the thoughts tell you how it’s warm or cold though your body can already feel it and it really requires no narrative. It could even go on as to why you need to find a shade and how you should hurry, or how it can disrupt your plans for the rest of the day. But in reality, the weather is simply that. A particular weather.
This is why even when you feel a bit of a muscle pain, your mind would amplify the pain you feel by the thoughts it brings up. What you need to remember in those moments is that, if you can use the words even to yourself to simply say, “my arm is hurting, period.”, and not believe the thought process that may follow such as “if it gets worse, I can’t cook, I can't go for the event that’s happening in three days, I have to cancel my weekend plans, etc.”. The reality is in this moment, you’re going to a future in your mind that is made up by your ego in a state of fear.
In the reality of the moment your arm simply hurts. It could subside on its own by the end of the day if you hydrate, rest well, and maybe apply a gel or you may not even need the gel. But as you’re working from a place of fear and your mind goes into overdrive, you already start planning and prepping for a future you don’t want by believing that is going to be your reality. In other words, simply manifesting your worries as you are taking physical actions towards it believing it's true. You are prepping your body to feel the pain and be weak for the next few days as it’s becoming a belief in your subconscious mind at this point.
So remind yourself to be present when you feel any kind of pain, try noticing where in your body you actually feel this pain, focus on the energy of your body there, see it for what it is and don't let your mind steer you away with nonsensical thoughts. Tell yourself and to anyone else in conversation exactly how it is, not the assumptions or the narrative your ego mind brings out in a state of fear/stress.
Let’s try to think and talk about the things you do want, not what you don’t want. Remind yourself to see a situation exactly for what it is, not what it could be or could have been. Remember that any "could have been's" or "could be's"of any kind is simply not true and it doesn’t matter as the reality is, it didn’t happen. What happened is what exactly is right in front of you right now. Let life happen to you with no resistance. See it for what it is and don’t let the words mislead you or keep you living in an illusion of fear that's made up by the ego. Remember that your body and mind is always listening, so feed it what you want to happen not what you don’t want to happen. I hope you start doing this even for just two days where you simply stop complaining about anything at all, and see how things go! 😊
